Eighteen years and counting
Where did they go?
An infant not so long ago, it seems
For the first time frightened
My role is replaced by a mature and brilliant mind
Where is my place, what shall I do?
Shockwaves hit me, way too soon
My beautiful cherub, is ready to spread her wings and fly
I wonder if all parents feel like this?
Surely I can't be alone...............
She was a child like no other, dark brown eyes you notice first
Her special ways, gave special meaning, each drama unrehearsed
Independant to a fault, always ready to take command
So full of compassion, thriving on each task at hand
Sprouting tall, so full of life, and shimmering in the sun
Full of solitude and gentle ways, her goals had just begun
A masterful mind, enriched in many ways
Absorbing all that challenges her, adamant not to stray
For her beliefs are her own, and will not give an inch
Reflecting back, I see expressions, creativity a cinch
Whether it be words written, simple drawings, or notes played out a tune
As she enters, the auroa appears, sparkling with delight
A beautiful young lady, stands before us, ready to take flight
Its abundantly clear, she is ready to soar,
Ready to fly, so spread those wings, my little one
I pray all your journey's will be without fears
I am so proud to have guided her these last 18 years
Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter ( and best friend )
July 22, 1984
I love you, mom
