I guess it was time to have some fun,
I know they deserved what I have done.
Poetry.com, the poets ripoff king,
in return, they deserve something.
So I told them just a little lie,
to see what story would then fly.
I can't attend your awards ceremony,
of course I knew that it is phony.
My wife's health won't let me go,
but you can still mail me my awards though.
Well this morning, I received their reply,
I must say, they made a nice try.
Here's what their email said,
guess they think my brain is dead.
We are sorry that you can't attend,
and your awards we'd love to send.
Submit one poem for our expert to read in your place,
not being able to attend shouldn't cause you disgrace.
Send $169.00 to cover him reading your poetry,
and we'll get your awards mailed yesiree.
Well you might imagine my reply,
if it's my award, why must I buy?
I can purchase one easily right here,
that won't cost an arm, a leg, and one ear.............
