Subject: for the Barnes'

We are actually only 3.5 hours from Halstead. Our path would be to go through Witchita and up I-135 to I-70 at Salina. Hays is only an hour west from there. So we are up for Ellis and Ness - but Hannibal? I think we will have to pass on that one. When we lived in Rochester and went to Rocky Mtn we went the way Dave said. Stopped in Grand Island on way there, DesMoines on way home. But Dave, check out 183 from just W of Grand Island which goes S directly to Hays. Looks to be about 2 hours out of the way - maybe not worth it yet for the girls - they are kind of young to remember a visit to Ellis & Ness - but something to check out anyway. We did it when Jon and Lara were 2 & 3 on our way to California and they remember none of it. Nate hardly remembers MN! But we are talking a year+ from now...
