Guys, first of all, thanks for the support!

I was a member of the Titan Pep Band as an undergrad, but never did I realize quite the level of support this group gets from the athletic dept, students, fans, alumni, etc. until now. Your feedback is important, especially since I'm wrapping up my first year as director and trying to develop a "lessons learned" list to make improvements next year.

As you suggested, I'd also like to figure out a way to get the pep band out in front of the fans more, like they did for the loudest fan contest (t-shirt throwing) at the Butler game. It might be good to get them out on the court to play a song or two, perhaps at halftime. It would be too much of a logistic nightmare to try during a timeout. I'll be sure to talk that over with the group at the beginning of next season. BTW, I haven't seen Blast live, but I've seen it on TV. Absolutely great show, but probably a bit much for the Titan Pep Band.

About recruitment, we'd welcome whatever help you can offer. It's difficult at a school where there is no music program, but we've done well in the past. As you may have seen at Senior Day, we will be losing some 10 seniors, roughly a third of the current group. Hopefully, we can find another good freshman class (like we did this year) and convince a few upperclassmen stragglers to come aboard. 2 of the student officers are primarily responsible for recruitment at the beginning of the year- flyers, phone calls, dorm visits, etc. I may also have another recruitment trick or two up my sleeve.

I'll have 26 band members in Milwaukee this weekend. Feel free to catch me sometime to discuss things (or e-mail me anytime at rlangdorf@peoplepc.com). Thanks again!
