Darius was enjoying his stay at the table along with Jo. It had been a long arduous day, and he looked forward to spending some quality time with his beautiful young lady, and student. Before Jo had left, however, he was asked if he wanted to engage in one final activity by Ravin, and Erlic. The merc simply smiled, and nodded his agreement. He turned to Jo, who was about ready to leave. “I’ll try not to be late,” he stated. “But I’ve got to do this, and from what Ravin and Erlic tell me, it shouldn’t be too dangerous. If I walk in, and you’re asleep, I’ll simply let you be. If, however, you’re still awake………” He let the thought hang as Jo smiled with appreciation, giving him a kiss before heading toward her room. He would definitely look forward to a good night’s rest, well maybe not a good rest, but a very pleasant, and stimulating evening, or morning for that matter.
To Erlic, it appeared that although Ravin was tired, he still had some energy left, especially when it concerned burning down a warehouse full of drugs. One of the many problems plaguing Bizmar was the use of drugs, especially by the now deceased Tegol, who primarily used them to keep several of his members allied to him by getting them hooked, and thus having to work for him for their daily fix.
The guild master was sure that it had been a very lucrative business, and that Tegol had made a good some of money on the trade. But for now, it was best that they rid the city of at least one location, or in this case, one source of the addicting drugs. Too many people that had been caught in the onslaught of daily pressures, wound up turning to these alternate forms of medicine simply to rid themselves of life as they knew it, only to be caught up in a whirlwind of another, and more costly problem. Perhaps some of the people didn’t know how to cope with life in general, and turned to the alternate substances as a way out. Perhaps it was a poor excuse, but maybe for a moment, they found a bit of reprieve. Unfortunately, once addicted, there was no turning back, and the extra work needed to come up with the money for these drugs usually took its toll on the common person especially.
Erlic, Ravin, and Darius sat around making quick plans. They agreed to take the wagon from the stables, some oil, and simply sneak into the place, set fire to it, and then leave. It sounded plausible enough even if there were some men there, which could easily be disposed of. The group nodded towards each other, and started to head out. Erlic stopped by Jade, and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. “I have some unfinished business to attend to, but I will return, in time I hope, for my payment.” He was rewarded with a smile from the exotic mage, as she kissed him.
The three men walked out to the stables, prepared the wagon, loaded it with oil, and headed out for the location Erlic had read about. Ravin seemed to know where it was situated, and they followed his lead. Within no time they arrived at their destination. The three fighters/thieves watched from their vantage point taking in their surroundings. A few men could be seen walking around, but considering these warehouses were situated near the dock, it was quite understandable to have some amount of activity. Erlic told everyone to wait while he had a look around. He moved quickly about the shadows making sure no one saw him. He came to a side door, and quickly searched for traps. He spotted not one, but three, and quickly disabled them. Obviously they had come to the correct warehouse considering how well it had been trapped. He picked the lock, and carefully opened the door a crack. Some voices could be heard in the distance, and he slowly made his way toward them. Moving with stealth, he finally came upon two men sitting at table playing cards. Obviously they were either waiting for someone, or simply guarding the place. Erlic rushed toward the table, and before they could do anything, snapped the neck of the first man, and then raised his leg, and kicked at the other unsuspecting individual. Knowing of Ravin’s empathy, he moved the bodies out of the way, and when he felt the place was secured, returned to the doorway, and signaled for the others.
They quickly poured the oil over the contents inside the warehouse. They let the oil settle a bit as they explored the area to see what items of value they could find. Ravin chanced upon another moneybox, this one filled with coins, and gems, and worth a lot of money. “Drug money,” the younger thief exclaimed. “Maybe we can put it to better uses.” The others had to agree with him. Erlic came across some items he hadn’t expected to find, an assortment of various poisons. Possibly the poisons were to be re-located at another time, but that didn’t matter to him now. He swiped what he could take, and carefully placed them in his sack. Being an assassin, and knowing the value of poisons, he could easily use the confiscated goods for a better purpose. Darius happened to find some papers. “These papers indicate some of Tegol’s other establishments, how much payment is due, and what days to collect.” He stuffed the papers in his tunic. When they decided there was nothing left to search, they made their way to the door, and checked to see if there were any people around. Ravin gave Erlic a thumb's up, and the assassin quickly lit the fire. Once he was sure it had started, the group made their way back to the wagon, and rode off, stopping once they were far enough away.
They sat, and watched as the building caught fire, flames spreading through the wood, and the now oil soaked items inside the building. By this time there would be no feasible way to put out the fire. Each of the men took a swig of the flasks, before heading back toward the tavern. The trip back was without incident, and once they arrived, stabled the horses, and returned to have another drink. They were quite happy with their achievements. Darius handed over the papers to Erlic, deciding it was best for him to make any further plans. They toasted each other on a job well done.
