Marz snickered when the blonde girl introduced herself as Daisy. Suddenly, he realized that most Rover names were taken from nature, and Daisy certainly fit his dance partner because of her very yellow hair. Of course he didn't have to tell her his name since all the young girls in the camp seemed to know him.
He felt dozens of eyes watching his every move as his lithe body swayed to the music. Marz really enjoyed being the center of attention. He seriously thought about doing a slow strip tease that would give the girls something special to remember for a long time. The idea fled his mind when Daisy's hands slid to the small of his back, pulling his body against hers. Automatically his arms wrapped around her, a soft moan escaping him when her hips began to move provocatively.
"You like?" she asked, as her hands moved to rest on his ass.
The ex-gang leader chuckled. Why the hell was she asking such a stupid question? Obviously, she could feel how extremely aroused he was at the moment. "Sure, I like it," he murmured, although he wished that Tristan were in his arms instead. Both Daisy and Breeze had managed to turn him on, but he didn't experience the same sensual intensity that his soulmate invoked in him.
He frowned when Daisy pulled away from him suddenly then grinned when he spotted Tristan talking to her. His mind was too dulled from wine to pay much attention to what was being said. As soon as the blonde stomped off, Marz forgot about her completely and focused his attention on his soulmate. Nearly overcome with desire, he pulled the dragon close, their bodies swaying to the music while they shared a sensuous kiss.
A disappointed pout came to Marz's face when Tristan broke away from him, blurting out the word no. A silly grin replaced the pout after the dragon dragged him into a tent and handed him a glass of juice. He began drinking it as ordered, nearly choking when Tristan told him what Tia saw before asking him for his side of the story.
Raking, little snitch! Marz thought. He opened his mouth then slammed it shut once he realized they were surrounded by a group of pretty girls again. Juice splashed from his glass when Tristan grabbed his hand and dragged him back outside, with the girls following along after them. Marz drained the rest of his juice then turned his eyes to Tristan after he said he had an announcement to make.
The dragon placed a hand on Marz's chest before addressing the bevy of beauties that stared at them. "This is mine," he told the girls matter-of-factly.
Marz nodded, fully agreeing with what his soulmate had to say. "I definitely belong to him," he muttered, while slipping an arm around the dragon. The ex-gang leader gave his lover an incredulous look when he went on to threaten the girls because he didn't see the need for such a threat. He watched the pretty rovers run off then turned to lock eyes with his soulmate. Thankfully, the effects of the single glass of wine he consumed were already wearing off, and he was able to think a bit clearer. He leaned in to kiss the dragon but backed away quickly when he saw him tense up.
"All right. Which one of you threatened our sisters?"
Marz turned at the sound of the gruff voice, his eyes narrowing at the site of the small group of angry looking men. He ignored the words that Tristan hissed at him, and lowered his hand to his sword hilt. "Rake off assholes before I slice you all into little pieces!" he shouted at the men.
Apparently, Marz's words didn't sit too well with them because the angry scowls on their faces deepened as they advanced a step. Things came to a standstill when everyone's attention was diverted by a masculine voice shouting out the word STOP! Marz turned to stare at a man slightly taller than himself, who appeared to be in his late-twenties. Long, platinum blonde hair fell past his muscular shoulders, and pale blue eyes seemed to hold a hint of amusement as he glanced at all the faces before him. His face had the delicate bone structure of an elf, yet he was dressed in the forest green color that most of the Rover men wore.
"I saw the whole thing," the stranger told the angry mob. "It was simply a misunderstanding due to too much liquor and innocent flirtations. You all know how desperate your sisters are to land a man, and they inadvertently tried to come between these two handsome youths who are obviously enthralled with one another. Mother Minnow will not be pleased if a fight breaks out and ruins this celebration so I suggest you all go back to drinking and carousing and simply forget about this minor incident."
Obviously, the image of an angry Minnow was not very pleasant because at the mention of her name the men's demeanor changed immediately. The tenseness left their bodies and they smiled at the man before turning their eyes back to Marz and Tristan. "Perhaps we did act in haste," one of the men said. "No harm was done so let's leave it at that and go back to celebrating."
Marz nodded then watched the men walk away before he turned to face the blonde. Before he could say anything the man cut him off.
"My name is Yarrow, cousin to Ravin Rue. My mother tells me that I get the platinum hair from my father, an elf who stayed with the Rovers for a while." A grin played upon his lips as his eyes went from one youth to the other. "You're Marz," he said, giving the ex-gang leader a nod. "And you must be Tristan." His eyes locked with the dragon's for a moment before he turned away. "I'm on my way to the nearby beach where a few Rovers have gathered for a little swimming, sunbathing, and apple bobbing. Join me if you like. The water's a refreshing relief from this hot afternoon sun."
Marz turned to Tristan when the man walked away from them. "Do you feel like getting wet?"
