A contended smile crossed Eremis' face as he rested his head on Cas' shoulder. He was still panting slightly from their lovemaking, and found it a bit hard to concentrate on anything but the euphoria he felt. Being seduced by Cas was unlike anything he ever experienced before. His friend drove him to the brink of delirium several times until he found himself begging for a release from the torrid passion that had consumed him. When that glorious release came, he cried out Cas' name as shock waves rippled though his body, making him jerk uncontrollably until his passion was finally spent.

"I guess it would've been kind of embarrassing," Cas said, "if Erlic walked in on us while we were screaming each other's names like that."

Eremis laughed, and was about to tell his friend how much he enjoyed their lovemaking but was silenced by a passionate kiss. The healer moaned low in his throat while digging his fingers into Cas' back, pulling him closer. There weren't any words to describe how incredibly wonderful Eremis was feeling at the moment. He frowned in disappointment when Cas pulled away to tease him about the tangles in his hair.

Since he didn't want to move, he was literally dragged out of bed by his friend. Rather reluctantly, he tugged on the clean clothes he was handed then nodded in agreement when Cas said it was about time they did some laundry. Maybe they could string a clothesline up on the roof across from them in order to hang their garments out to dry later. Eremis ran his fingertips up and down Cas arms while he stood before him, tying the laces of his pants. He closed his eyes and sucked in a breath when his friend's hand moved down to tease him. The next thing he knew, Cas was pulling him forward, forcing him into a chair a moment later.

Eremis stared off into the distance; a silly grin playing on his mouth while Cas combed his hair. He loved it when the demon boy made a fuss over him, or came to his defense when he was feeling threatened by someone. Cas seemed to take a real interest in his well being, and always managed to pull him out of his rather sad moods. Although he still felt a bit depressed whenever he thought about his love for Tristan, the demon boy succeeded in keeping his mind off the dragon for much of the day so far. There wasn't any sense in dwelling over something that could never be anyway. Plenty of people probably fell in love with someone who didn't return their love and somehow they learned to live with it and move on. And so will I.

Once Cas finished with his hair and moved to fill up a couple of mugs with java, Eremis decided it was time to start working on his first oil painting. He opened his sketchpad to the picture he drew yesterday then set it on the counter next to the easel since he would be referring to it often. After taking a sip of java, he smiled at Cas, who took a seat on the windowsill. Eremis set his mug down then mixed some paint on his pallet and got to work.

He had just finished painting in the window frame and filling in some rays of sunlight when a knock sounded upon the door. Since he was closer, he took a couple steps forward and turned the doorknob, not surprised to see Erlic standing in the hall. After nodding for their guest to take a seat at the table, Eremis put his brush and pallet down then offered the guildmaster a mug of java.

Eremis mumbled a thanks to Erlic for bringing them bottles of wine and brandy. His eyes widened in shock when he was handed a sack with 500 gold pieces for their aid with Sir Redric last night. That should definitely soften the blow with Cas later when Eremis finally got around to telling him that he gave up their wages to keep him from getting arrested. He lit up a cigarette then moved to sit on the windowsill beside his friend while Erlic went on to talk about a proposition he had for them. The healer glanced at Cas a few times, wondering if he was as confused as he was when Erlic starting telling them about a Specialist's Guild.

Eremis took a drag from the cigarette then nodded his head slowly once he realized that Marz's teacher wanted to employ them to spy for his guild. Basically, Erlic seemed willing to pay them a decent weekly wage simply to gather as much information as possible about certain predominant people in Bizmar. His face reddened slightly when the guildmaster mentioned that he would get him proper assistance if he ever decided to try to kick his drug habit. It still bothered him that his old friends knew of his addiction and probably considered him a weakling since he had no desire to face the pain of withdrawal just yet.

The healer blew a couple of smoke rings into the air then took a sip of java while his mind went over everything Erlic had said. A hundred and fifty gold a week for each of them sounded pretty tempting at the moment. Erlic also promised to have someone train Cas in sword fighting as well as breaking and entering for free. Thankfully, the person doing the training wouldn't be Althena because if it were, Eremis would have said no to the guildmaster's offer immediately. He didn't want to be anywhere near that cold-blooded murderer!

As he sucked more smoke into his lungs, Eremis did a few mental calculations. Since Erlic claimed they didn't have to change anything about their present lifestyle, they could work at the Copper Stein three days a week while spying for the man; with Erlic's money that would give them a total of 360 gold per week at least. One six-hour day at the Silk Palace gave Eremis about 380 gold after paying for liquor and any aphrodisiacs he used. He leaned in closer to Cas and lowered his voice. "If we work for him along with doing three days at the Copper Stein, and I do one day at the Silk Palace, we'll have about 740 gold coming in each week. That doesn't sound bad Cas, especially since Erlic is offering us protection and free training too. Should we take his offer? Personally, I think it'll benefit both of us." Eremis knew that he spent at least 75 gold each day for drugs, and that's where most of their money would be going until he eliminated that problem.

The healer also knew that he wouldn't have to worry about money if he moved in with Marz and Tristan, but he couldn't bring himself to do that. He really wanted to stand on his own two feet for a change rather than running to his old friends for help. At least if he failed to kick his habit he only had himself to answer to and wouldn't have to deal with someone like Marz breathing down his neck at all time. Plus, he thought it wise not to be around Tristan on a constant basis because that would only hurt too much and perhaps dampen his resolve to stay off the drugs when he finally made up his mind to do so.
