Hey there ladies,

It has been a very long time since I posted here last...
And at the time I was moving, life was in chaos, my husband was losing it...
well glad to report that everything has worked itself out -I am now in MN with my son and I got great assistance here through medicaid - my daughter was born by the hands of a great surgeon on June 20 at 7:59 am. She weighed 7lbs 11oz, and was 19.5 inches long. I named her Coraline Kathryn, we call her Cora.

I really have your wonderful site to thank for making me believe this was even possible. I feel so much better about everything now that she is in the world - I was so stressed all the time when I was pregnant but she is such a peaceful baby. She does wake me up by 5am every day, but notthrough crying or screaming, but grunting! Her little face scrunches up and she grunts and groans - must be gas trouble but still so much better than a long cry.

My husband came up to visit when she was a few days old - he has quit smoking pot and has started looking for a better paying, less stressful job, in the hopes of gettn g his family back. He seems like he has changed alot and i should be happy but i am still apprehensive. i'd love to have a family and not be a single mom, but i can't run right back to the hell i was in.

well, thats about all i have time to report. i would put a picture in but i can't figure out how. just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching me not to give up.

love, rachel ono & family

Hi Rachael,

I am so glad that you posted! I was wondering what had happened to you! I am the one that lives in MN!

What part are you in? Did you apply for WIC now too?

Are you living alone and do you have help?

Keep us posted on everything....Congrats on your new baby!

June 20, she is almost a month old! WOW!

On a side note, can you stand the heat here, it is awful!

Love,

Lisa

Thanks for all the kind words...Lisa where is it that you live again? I ended up in St Cloud with my brother's family (they have been so awesome and supportive). I am on WIC, MA, etc - I even get a free, hospital grade electric breast pump thru the Medicaid program in MN. It is an awesome state for being a single mom in compared to FL. As far as the weather - I think it is hotter here right now than FL! And then Eli and I will have to adjust to the extreme cold soon enough...

Heather, perhaps the university your friends are involved with is St Cloud State? That would be such a coincidence if so! Email me if you can their info.

And Tracey, how is your youngest doing? Have you posted pictures recently? I haven't been here in so long...

Love to all and thank you again...

Hi Rachel,

Hey, it's so good to hear from you! And CONGRATULATIONS!! on little Cora. Your post was such a joy to read, especially in light of the turmoil you were in in the beginning of your pregnancy with her. I'm sure things are still hectic but it really sounds like God has been merciful in many ways in your life.

I know the relief and tenderness you must feel for little Cora's peaceful temperament. Our fourth child, Clara, was unplanned and I did my share of 'angst' about having another baby (my first three were colicky for the first few months) but when she was born I couldn't believe the contented and peaceful temperament she'd been graced with. She is now four and has remained that same joyful person so here's hoping Miss Cora will, too.

I'm really happy for you, and to see the wise outlook you have about your husband. What great news that he is beginning to come around; I will be praying for him now that you've mentioned it, and I sincerely hope he's able to make it 'to the other side' and be able to be reunited with his family. I think you're being very smart in giving him some time to work it out. You sound like a great wife and mom, and I can see why he'd want you and his children back.

Well I hope you'll keep checking in periodically with updates. My very good friends are moving to MN in just a couple of weeks, to a city right next to the University where her husband just took a job offer as a teacher. If you're anywhere near there and want some awesome friends, let me know. My friend and her kids would love a new friend when they get there.

Thanks for taking the time to share your excellent news, Rachel. God's mercy, kindness and eternal truth are much greater than any circumstances and you know, being reminded of that in reading your post was very timely and encouraging for me right now.

With Love and Kindness,

Heather

Rachel, Rachel, Rachel.. you did it!! CONGRATULATIONS!! You should be SO proud of yourself! From the turmoiled cocoon of emotions, a butterfly has emerged! Of course there will be hard times ahead as in any life, but Rachel, you have shone through this one and I give you every congratulations on a job well done and a trial well-persevered! "Well done, good and faithful servant" comes to mind! AS you evidently do, please remember Rachel that you have been given this little one - baby Cora as a GIFT.. and a BLESSING.. I wonder what joys she will bring to you in this life :) God never gives us more than we can handle, though sometimes it may feel that way :) But with a temperament like she has, it seems that God wanted to bless you for your decision to keep her and give you a sweet natured baby!

I was only thinking about you the other day, Rachel, and wondering what had happened for you, so thank you SO much for keeping us all posted! I imagine you will have your hands full for some time now (!) but it really does sound as though the tide is starting the slow turn in your life and "a little ray of sunshine" is peeking through :)

I wish you every joy with your little daughter - what a lovely word "daughter" is! And Eli's little sister! Feel free to email me if you want a chat any time.. no hurry, as I know you will be kept well and truly out of mischief with two little ones!

Take care,

Hayley :)

Hi Rachel,

I am in St Paul. I grew up here and I work in Minneapolis.
I know St Cloud a little, my really good friend grew up there and my other friend went to St Cloud State. It has grown so much in the past 20 years or so.

MN is very different from Fla. I was stationed in Fla when I was in the Navy many moons ago. I will be glad when the heat lets up. I think you will find you might even like our winters. They are not as bad as they sound!

Yes, you have been blessed with a goos state and I am glad you decided to come here. Before you know it, I am sure you will be out on your own!

I attended the University of MN in Mpls, I wonder if that is where Heather's friend took the job. Hopefully, it is nearer to you.

I hope you keep in touch!

Cant wait to see little Cora's pic!

Love Lisa and Sophie

Rachel,

I am so happy for you, and so proud of you. You have been through so much.

I'm going to be driving up to Minneapolis next weekend to visit my sister! It's about a 5 hour drive from where I live (southeastern South Dakota.) I'll be thinking about you ;-)

God bless you!

Sharon

P.S. The offer still stands for Da Kao when you come to visit your family in Sioux City ;-)

Congratulations Rachel! Coraline is such a beautiful name. I love names that are different but not outlandish and Coraline is just gorgeous. She sounds like a sweetheart.

I am so very glad to hear that things are going well for you all.

God's blessings,
Melanie

Hey Tracey - I am doing great, thank you for asking! I am not losing too much sleep, although my hours of sleeping have had to adjust! I get up at 5 or 6a now, and go to bed at 9pm.
I am so grateful to everyone here - if it werent for you I wouldn't have my pretty lil Coraline,
you should see how much Eli loves her, too - his excitement never wavers! it is so cute!
love to you all,
Rachel

Rachel,

It was SO great to get to meet you and Eli and Coraline last week! You have such beautiful children! What incredible blessings they are. And, you are such a calm and gentle mother! You are a natural. You have that delicate balance of wisdom, idealism, and realism that usually comes (if at all) in those much older than you ;-) Your children are very blessed to have you as their mother.

I love what you said in your posts about how the stress of pregnancy and any difficult circumstances surrounding it pale in comparison to the joy and love the child brings into our lives. We sometimes get caught up in the negatives of the moment and lose sight of the potential positives in the future. Thankfully, you weathered the storms and now have your two precious little ones in your arms!

God bless you and your beatiful family!

Sharon
