I'm going to do one of those hypocritical posts. So be forewarned.

I don't want this board to degenerate into the insanity that has become the other two boards (not including the cesspool known as MassLive). That being said, I read Swampy's post under the "Rumors" thread and I have to say, knowing him, it was all facetious.

It isn't apparent coming from the text, unless you are someone who knows him. I happened to sit with him during the Fordham game, and I'll tell you that he said less negative things than I did during that game (you know the customary "Awww, shit..." on a stolen entry pass or a "Shoot the fucking ball, kiddo!" when someone was wide open). He, myself and Denne, stood the entire game, as with tradition, and stayed until after the players and coaching staff left to congratulate them on the win. As usual.

He's done it even more than myself this year because I haven't been able to attend all the games that I have wanted to go to. I'm going to try to make Senior Day, but I know for a fact that he will be there.

The next question I suspect would be asked is "Why did he take shots at Brennan Martin and Kyle Wilson?". The Wilson part is fairly self-evident, in was in jest to the fellow before who posted that Kyle hit a few threes and that was it. And I think he effectively backed it up in the following post. Anthony Anderson, Rahiem Lamb, and Kit Rhymer certainly had better games than Wilson, but that is not to say that their individual efforts were more than Kyle's. It is merely saying that the victory was a collection of good individual efforts by everyone who played. Micah Brand only had 4 points, but he had his hand in McMillan's face a bunch of times. He may not have had a better game than Kyle, but his effort was important.

I think people get caught up in the fact that Swamp did support Bruiser, as many people did, and therefore sometimes slant an innocent facetious post into a vibrant attack on coach Lappas or "his" recruits. They all wear the same uniform. My tax dollars help pay for their scholarships. I don't really give a shit about where or who they came from, in terms of "Whose player is he?".

Honestly, I know why Rich has become disenchanted with posting ANYWHERE. It's because an innocent, smartass retort can be construed as an attack. I consider the guy a close friend of mine, have gotten to know him well and know that he really does bleed this University's blood. He likes Bruiser Flint, but isn't a Drexel fan. So give him that, it's the least you can do.

Call me a loyalist, call it sticking up for a friend no matter what, but Rich is a-okay in my book. Anyone who says otherwise has to go through me.

I'd do the same for all you.

Rich IS a good guy (at least in our e-mail exchanges) and that's why those kind of posts REALLY suck. Coming from some jerk with an axe to grind is one thing, but from what you, Carl, my own observations, and what everyone says about Rich you want something better and it's frustrating We can't doing anything about MassLive assholes, but he knows the good guys all supported Bruiser and to get lumped in as some kind of turncoats because people want to do the same for Lappas is infuriating. We got pissed when people ripped DePina as a way to strike at Bruiser and we should be pissed when Martin and Wilson get similarly used. Swampy is a smart guy who KNOWS that is exactly the type of smart ass stuff people posted about Bruiser, and we all, rightfully, went on the attack against those idiots. I know he bleeds Maroon, but those kind of posts do nothing to make that apparent. Personally, I miss his participation on this and other forums. At any rate, I appreciate your sticking up for a friend. That's always cool with me.

1. Bruiser Flint is not the coach of the Minutemen.
2. John Calipari is not the coach of the Minutemen.
3. Steve Lappas is the coach of the Minutemen.
4. Kyle Wilson and Brennan Martin play for the Minutemen.
5. Ed Basden, Jeremiah King, Mauricio Branwell, Jarret Kearse, and a host of other players do not and never did play for the Minutemen.
6. I am a fan of the Minutemen. I am not a fan of another team other than my alma mater, Georgia State University.
7. Players who play for the Minutemen deserve my unfailing support.
8. Coaches who coach for the Minutemen deserve my unfailing support.

If these concepts are too difficult for some people to grasp, I pity those people. I am not smart, and I understand these concepts.

I don't think it was fair for people to take giant runny shits on the Minutemen players or coaches before this season. I do not think it's fair for people to take giant runny shits on the current Minutemen or coaches.

I hope these additional concepts are easy enough to understand.

I do not like it when people take giant runny shits on the UMass Minutemen players or coaches. I defended Ajmal Basit when he ran down the court licking his thumbs. I defended Bruiser Flint when his team got the shit kicked out of it by "lesser" teams. I am that kind of person.

I hope that this would explain why I have any negative feelings about the sentiments certain people have expressed recently on Mike's board.
