Subject: 'SUICIDE' [???} IN RUC/PSNI BARRACKS

DEATH IN PSNI BARRACKS

A 'prominent' Strabane 'dissident' republican, believed to be John Brady, aged 40, was arrested at tea-time Friday on "an assault charge", and within 24 hours at PSNI HQ on Derry's Strand Road, was reported "found dead in his cell". The local BBC station reports that police have stated his sudden death was due to suicide. The CR Vets wish this news to be re-circulated, as any death in a police barracks here should be viewed with alarm and as highly suspicious. More details, when available, will be posted on this board. His Co. Tyrone family are calling for an immediate investigation and are naturally highly shocked. The PSNI Ombudsman's office announed this morning that it will carry out its own "internal inquiry". International human rights organisations should be alerted at this juncture, as we should not await a protracted "internal inquiry! by the Ombudsman's office.
