Subject: what we leave behind

Light winds caressed the flawless, light skin of Celeste. Long, fluffy blonde hair that should have been brown was tied into a loose poytail, a few stray wisps dancing with the zaphyrs that blew past her.

Her toes, nails perfectly manicured and painted pink, wriggled in the sand beneath her. Her hands, those nails also painted pink, held a book Celeste had found in the library. Yes, it was extraordinary to see her sitting peacefully, to the exclusion of all conversation reading. Concentrating. Her face held an expression of excitement as she eagerly flipped through the pages of Pride and Prejudice. It was the perfect love story, Celeste could feel Elizabeth's pain.

As Celeste sat, perfectly perched in the sand, she looked a little different. A little smarter. She wasn't living in a clueless world, she was just a normal teenage girl, sitting there in her tan tank top covered by a white button down shirt that was unbuttoned, blowing up behind her as the wind pushed against her, and her matching tan shorts.

As she finished the chapter she was set the book down and sighed. Why did the story seem so familiar?
