Re: it's too late to go. -- Julian Emberson, 18:57:15 05/27/02 Mon
Julian stared at her in awe, then snorted. "Hell no! It's just a favorite pastime, the whole numb feeling. It ebbs the train of thought that I usually despise." He sighed leaning back, recumbent now. He was too tired to keep up the prince act. "Falling apart is something I've learned not to do." Sniffing, he closed his eyes, a sleep-like state having consumed his body, but not his consciousness.
"Brilliance is often monstrous," He mumbled, lashes slowly half-opening and then closing again, trusting Celeste enough. "But I'm hardly brilliant. And neither are you, thinking like that... you'd also like to get expelled, wouldn't you? But I suppose," He stopped to bring his hand up in a fist, yawning into the soft flesh of the back of his hand. "If you dream so much of running away, it's for your mental best."
He chuckled wistfully. "Not that I would know anything of running away," He lied.

Did I wait that long? -- Celeste Riecburg, 16:53:50 05/28/02 Tue
Celeste didn't really see where all this was going. One minute she was scolding him, the next minute it was like her whole soul was opened up to him. He had unwittingly gotten her to open up with him, she never did that with anyone else. Perhaps because Julian trusted her she felt she could trust him.
"It might make you feel good now, but one day it will all catch up with you. Make you feel more pain than it was all worth. Lucky I didn't find you drunk, not that I think you would do that..." she said trailing off, she trusted that if had ever gotten as far as drunk, which she didn't want to think he did, he'd spare telling her that. Celeste would flip if she ever found Julian drunk. It might even be the end of their friendship if she found him that way.
"I don't see it as running away." she mumbled. "I mean I just see it as...walking away. Walking away from the situation you want absolutley nothing to do with ever. Don't you ever ask yourself, 'what are we doing her, what is the purpose'? There is so much to do...and here we are. Just here, sitting, learning, everyday. There is just...too much to see. I know it's alot to want, but...I want to see everything there is too see. All over the World. Wouldn't that be nice?" she asked.

Re: conscience says the rain has come.
Julian shook his head, reaching up with one hand to perhaps cleanse himself of the ire this was bringing him. He looked to her, a bit more of a spark of attention given. "Celeste, dear, if you're going to lecture me anymore on my drinking, please stop. I don't do it for anything but the taste and the feeling. I'm not escaping, I have no egomaniacal beneficiary search in the liquor... it's just something I'd like to do and would rather not be edified on its evils. I'm not a fucking drunkard and I don't care to make it a profession."
He crossed his arms and felt the dizziness slipping away, just like it always did. It would wake him up though, a throbbing pain that couldn't be ignored, head drowned. He never chose unfortunate days to let himself get carried away, though. He watched her with that faraway stare, no way to tell where he was, who he was, what was going on in his mind. "Isn't that the same as running, but lazier?" He gave a satiric chuckle at that. "I've asked myself that since I was ten years old. But it always ends up getting me depressed with the almighty eschatological answer."
He was wistful as she continued her verbal daydreaming. It reminded him of how adolescent people still were, and how comforting that was. Often it depressed him as well, for they were so happily ignorant... and that, somewhat, was bliss. "Yes, could the world be as perfect as you dream for it to be. But dreams can make reality. Unfortunately, we'll probably have to wait until the next recycling of the solar system..."

I can't stand the rain -- Celeste Riecburg, 18:01:37 05/29/02 Wed
Celeste looked at Julian as he protested against her lecture. "But, Julian-" she stopped as she saw the look on his face and simply nodded.
As she listened to his opinion on walking away being different from running away she only shook her head. "How can it be the same thing? I mean when you run away, your leaving scared. When your walking away...it's different. Walking away does not make you a cowardly person, it makes you a very smart one." she said, surprisingly arguing her point very well for someone who didn't make logical points about many things.
She listened next to him talk of how nice it would be if the World was a nicer place to travel indeed. "Julian, you are vert pessimistic! The World has its problems, sure, but it has major beauty too. It takes a very wise person to see past everything good, and see the bad as well. But..." she stopped and looked him straight in the eye, "it will take only a bitter person to see all that wrong with the World, and none of the good."

Re: you want it all -i did everything i could.
"Running doesn't mean you're scared." He made the point precisely, as it was a fact. "Walking, running... one way let's you go faster and the other slower, but you're still going away. There's no difference but the time you take to get where you want to be." He didn't seem fazed by her answers, as if he'd already heard them before. Rehearsed.
He smirked sardonically at her statements. "There's always the ugly among the beautiful, Celeste. I'm not bitter about anything by acknowledging it. Yes, it would be nice to see the world. But it's a lonely, careless life I wouldn't like to live. But you," He smiled a bit. "Good luck to you."

Then give me the oppurtunity to return the favor -- Celeste Riecburg, 16:48:22 05/30/02 Thu
Celeste sighed, Julian won again, of course. He always won. He was smarter,he most certainly had the advantage. All Celeste knew was what people showed her, Julian knew beyond that. He knew pain that Celeste couldn't even relate to, surely. Even so it did get annoying at times to always be proved wrong. There was only so much one girl could do,however, and decided wiser to just let it go.
"Well then, perhaps I don't want to walk or run." she said raising both eyebrows as she looked over at him. "Perhaps, you could make me dissappear..." she said before shaking her head, "Oh! No, wait we can't do that, then Julian's life will have no distraction from a harsh thing called reality. Julian won't have anyone to keep him smiling." she said poking him. One thing Celeste could do, better than anyone she was sure, was joke and play around even in the most serious situations, or most deep conversations. Both one of her better talents and greater faults.
Then she rolled her eyes as Julian, again, proved her wrong on the World point of view. She gave him a playful glare as she began to speak, "You are the most...real person I know." Celeste said as she searched for a word that wouldn't offend, but still get the point across. "You can't even just pretend that everything is all happy and nice for someone who doesn't know things the way you do, or experienced things the way your have." she said her false glare fading.
"I swear Julian, the day we graduate, and nor arguements, I am taking you on a trip. And on this trip we are going to make Julian Emberson see the bright side of things for once in his poor, pathetic excuse for a life with even the smallest little bit of happiness in it." she looked over at him smiling. "I mean it." she laughed. Such a thing would probably never ever happen just because they were two different people. Two different people who happen to be brought together by the forces of the school.
Then there was a short silence before Celeste voiced something that had probably been bothering her ever since that day in the library when she decided to skip class. "Julian...do you think I'm smart?" she asked.

Re: gratitude for your attitude.
He snorted, appalled by her accusations. "If I was as cynical as you claim, I wouldn't be here. Magic isn't quite so normal and black and white, Celeste. And I'm in Virlastyn! Just because I don't fancy the thought of butterflies and fields doesn't necessarily make me any less imaginative than your highness." He stuck his nose into the air haughtily. "Have you forgotten who I am? God, Celeste, I make fun of everybody in this school and I'm a logical number-cruncher in your eyes? I'm in awe," He falsely gasped, hand at his heart.
"I'm sick of pretending," He said calmly, smiling slightly as he straightened the arm of his duck, poking at the bump that remained. "Pretending is worse than dreaming, and I already do that too much. I'm happy the way I am, the way my life is. Whoever said I wasn't? My life is great." His brow rose questioningly. "Why am I so sad and grounded to you, Celeste?" He smirked, entertained and not at all insulted. He stopped briefly to think about her question, brows furrowed just to act out his deed.
"M'm," He mumbled thoughtfully (hah!). "Name your favorite artists and we'll see just how smart you are." He was a music snob, although he wouldn't judge her on this. Intelligence often surprised him, but as Celeste was brought up the way she was, her mind was still maturing... perhaps he shouldn't answer. He had no proper answer. To someone else who knew what Celeste knew and had the boundaries of her growing mind, she would be smart. But to him she was still a learner... So keep on the joke, he told himself. You don't even really have an answer anyway.

I can't think about this crazy day -- Celeste Riecburg, 15:43:52 05/31/02 Fri
Celeste laughed, "No." she answered. "I haven't forgotten who you are, master Julian, after all you are the so-called 'prince' of this school, who am I to judge?" she asked. "OH! Wait, that's right..." she rolled her eyes, "I'm the princess." she said playfully.
She listened to his next comments and simply shook her head. "Why do you seem so sad and grounded to me?" she repeated. "Well..." she rolled her eyes, "Compared to clueless, blissfully and probably unrightfully happy me you are." she replied.
As she heard what he said next her heart sank. Was he stalling to think of the nicest way to tell her that she wasn't? One way to find out. "What kind of artist? Music? Painting? Theatre? Writing? You are going to have to be more specific. Besides, what is this? You, who knows me like no one else does, can't even answer without asking me a question in return?" she said raising her eyebrows. "My, my Julian, we are losing our touch lately aren't we?" she said holding back the 'see what alcohol does to you?' part.

Re: please don't ask me i don't really know.
"Tschh," He sneered at her, arms wrapping around himself. He blinked slowly, failing to rid his nerves of the alcohol completely. "You've got a lot of work to do before you become the princess. And sorry for not being bubbly," He remarked, sarcastic. He rolled his eyes. "It's just really not my nature, you know."
He glared at her abruptly, irked suddenly. It happened often with him, no matter who it was. And he didn't like the fact that the more time somebody spent with him, the more he began to get irritated at their every action. His slapped himself inwardly. "Do I?" He asked, smirking. "I never usually spent conversation being intellectual with you, Celeste. It's a bit of a change. I never asked you about yourself and vice versa. You wouldn't be able to tell me what and who my favorite people are just the same. I'm a bit sorry to admit it, but it's rather true." He sat there, pensive again.
"But, go ahead, shoot, go for it. I've got time. Musicians, painters, actors, authors, directors, playwrights, poets... whatever comes off the top of your head. I'd like to know, honest." He was looking forward to seeing what Celeste knew, hoping maybe she wasn't as clueless as anybody else. Julian mused smiling to himself.

Then I guess I can try and figure it out -- Celeste Riecburg, 07:00:15 06/01/02 Sat
>
>size="1">"Really?" she questioned, "Well then you are just going to have to show me what to do, I thought I was on the right track." she said palyfully.
Celeste sat still as Julian got all upset as he usually did for no reason, Celeste, fortunately this time, kept her cool. She took a breath and looked him straight the eye, "The only problem with your theory is I said you knew me, I never said I knew you." she raised her eyebrows.
"Let me think...musicians..." she said, and even though he serisouly wanted her honest answers she couldn't help playing around, "Oh what do the african-americans call him? Snoopy dog?" she laughed, of course she knew what the proper name was but she was just having fun. "I'm kidding, I don't know, not that big on music. MY parents are partial to the classical stuff like Mozart though, so I guess that is OK." she said. "Painters isn't tough at all, my whole room has Monet all over it." she said beginning to list things off on her hand, "You have lost me on actors, no clue. I don't watch movies or T.V. very much I'm always out somewhere, doing something. Besides all the muggle stuff bores me after awhile. Authors-well that is hard because I know books I like I just don't remember who wrote them. Again I don't watch movies so I don't know much about directors, either. As for playwrights, no contest, definatley Shakespeare, of course I've only read Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It, but they were good. Harder than it sounds, I don't spend ALOT of time on artsy stuff though you know? I like to be out with people, I'm a people person."

Re: me, all of me.
"That's what I said," He chortled, unaffected by her repetition of his lengthy reply. He stood up, tired of his position, grabbing his rapier from its place against the coat rack and parried the air. He advanced, moving rather far away from her, swishing all the same.
"Mozart, Monet, Shakespeare," he smirked, shouting that audibly. He stopped, pivoted, and began to parry Celeste's direction, purposefully heading for her with his rapier. At about one foot's length, he ceased his rapier, the blade just before Celeste's chin. "All to familiar, but I wouldn't hold it against you. They were and still quite are agreeably brilliant." He laughed mirthfully, bringing his rapier down and sliding backwards into a proper stand in replacement of his fencing stance. "And people person indeed, Celeste." He joked.

With the exception of I don't know you at all -- Celeste Riecburg, 09:40:17 06/02/02 Sun
Celeste watched Julian's move with his sword, she knew little about fencng. No matter, he seemed to move with grace, something Celeste was very in touch with. However, when he came back, her eyes grew wide as he came closer and closer to her face, and then just stopped. "Don't do that again." Celeste said exhaling.
"Well of coure they are familiar, they're brilliant and famous. I go for the stuff that actually gets good reviews, or is well-known." she stated matter-of-factly.
Then she gave Julian a suspicious look as he finished with his remarks and raised one eyebrow. "Why do I get the feeling everything I just said got turned around?" she asked.

Re: and if you did, what good would it do? -- Julian Emberson, 21:54:20 06/02/02 Sun
He nodded, movements becoming stale. He brought his blade up to prevent some sort of ennui seizing him, examining it, aloofly aware that Celeste was still there. The alcohol influenced him to become more flippant towards anybody, liable to say anything he wanted and thought with control, just not over his impulsiveness. Perhaps maybe a little, but in this case, his actions showed everything.
"What do you mean by that, Celeste darling? What have you uttered that could have been slapped to your face?" He looked down cheerily at her. It was almost frightening to his inner consciousness, had it not been happening quite so frequently. "You've been lovely the entire conversation!"
Julian then became wary of his burning cheeks. He walked over to the duffel lying beside the coat rack and began to strip himself free of his uniform, bare, skinny chest glimmering with a sheen of sweat. His traditional training Kenneth Cole windbreakers were what his equally thin hips donned. He bent down to grab a black towel from his duffel, patting his neck and chest. He felt a bit breezier.

I guess I'll never know -- Celeste Riecburg, 07:40:18 06/03/02 Mon
Celeste watched Julian move, back and forth, back and forth. It was even more interesting then watching the expression on his face as he read a book. "Well what did you mean when you said..." Celeste stopped in midsentence as she saw Julian undressing, and turned her eyes away the minute they met bare skin.
She didn't know why it bothered her, like she shouldn't be watching him when he didn't have himself completely covered up, maybe because she thought desire would get the better of her.
Whatever it was, Celeste's eye refused to swivel back over to Julian, and she continued speaking a small quiver in her voice. "When you said, 'people person indeed'?" she asked.
Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Julian and quickly moved her gaze away.

Re: and the realities slide in so slowly. -- Julian Emberson, 21:03:47 06/04/02 Tue
Julian plopped back down on his seat, mind altering subjects a bit. He yawned, placing his hand over his mouth vertically as a prince would properly do and ran his fingers through his hair. "I heard "The Sum of All Butterbeers" was a good flick to see. But I want to watch the sub of this one new French film called "Insomnie". It stars Rueben Willemme, you know? That hilarious wizard that was in "Mistress Trustwater"? A friend Virlastyn told me it was great,"
He exhaled and put the towel around his neck, craning his head back in fatigue. "Oh man, oh man, is it hot in here." He frowned, closing his eyes and letting the cool of the armchair seep into his skin.

Somehow, ignorance was better -- Celeste Riecburg, 06:28:40 06/05/02 Wed
Celeste heard the subject change, and was even a little bit greatful. Yet, he still hadn't put his shirt back on! Any minute now he was going to notice the unnatural shyness surrounding the vibrant, flamboyant girl, and then what? HSe'd have to turn back around and control herself. She had self control. She had self control. 'I have self control' she thought to herself.
"Well," she tried to say normally, and look at his face and not elsewhere, "like I said, I don't watch movies that much, I mean I'd go if it was like I was goin with my friends or something, probably never otherwise." she said managing to not look away.
When Julian suggested that it was hot, she shook her head, "The wind is actually chilling me. I'm so cold." she said rubbing the goosbumps on her arms and bare legs.
