Could it be that CC put the show "on trial" as a way to justify himself to the fans? "I had a plan all along and here it is laid out for you."?

The Seinfeld finale was a sort of trial on the characters precieved obnoxious (but far from criminal) behavior. Bookends are nice although Requiem seemed like a bookend with the pilot already. And we end up in Roswell where it all began.

Perhaps Skinner was jealous of the kiss as fans used to thinnk he and Scully had a thing going on back in the day. Too bad Monica and John couldn't be seen all kissy-kissy too. Skinner could have given Marita a line on her way out since Krycek's out of the way. Yeesh! I am getting so shippy...down boy!
