Subject: Other actors as Mulder and Scully??

This is kind of an offshoot of my "Twin Peaks" post, where we eventually ended up talking about other actors who had been considered for the role of Mulder. Obviously, at this point, it's virtually impossible to think of anyone but David Duchovny as Mulder or anyone but Gillian Anderson as Scully, but let's put on our thinking caps and at least *try* come up with some actors and actresses who, although they probably wouldn't have been as good as DD and GA, at least don't seem totally ludicrious for consideration in the roles of our two favorite FBI agents.
One I mentioned in my "Twin Peaks" post was Parker Stevenson as Mulder. He played the "smart" Hardy Boy on the 70s TV show of the same name and also played a crime-solving scientist on a shortlived TV show of the late 1980s called "Probe". So he at least had the same *kind* of geeky-yet-sexy persona the producers wanted for Mulder. And he is good-looking (but not so much as DD!). PS is about a decade older than DD, but you often seen twentysomethings playing teens on TV or, I guess, they could have just made the character a few years older if they had chosen a 40ish, rather than 30ish, actor to portray him.
The only one I can think of for Scully is Stephanie Zimbalist and I'm not really sure she would have been good in the role. . .I just liked her in "Remington Steele" and wish we'd get to see her in *something* again!
