The thing about Krycek is that no one really knows anything about him. So it's easy to imagine him doing or being things would be out of character for others, like being gay. And since Krycek has such amazing onscreen chemistry with Mulder, slash writers want to throw Mulder into the mix, plus no one really cares about Krycek getting it on with someone unknown. People care about seeing the chemistry they saw in the prison scene in Tunguska going one step furthur.

I've read Mulder/Krycek slash and the time that it's most believable is when Mulder wants nothing to do with it, or it's just Krycek thinking about Mulder, because I just don't buy that Mulder could ever be gay. And I tend to think everyone is gay.

In my opinion, sex with Krycek is just another tool of his power. Him having sex with Marita had nothing to do with attraction or sexual orientation. It was a tool with which to betray her. And it worked beautifully. Krycek hated Marita.

And besides all of that, people just like to think about hot people having sex. There is all kinds of slash out there that doesn't make sense in the real world.

Here is something I've always wondered: where did the term slash come from?
