} upon waking, roan filly scrambles up from her feet, shaking her head and body free of itchy grass and brambles. glancing at her mother and seeing her nibbling at the leaves of a low tree, she cocks her head, curious. wondering what is so great about this green stuff that so covered the branches of the trees, she cautiously approaches it, sniffing at it skeptically. snagging a bite of it and not really knowing what to do with it, she glances at her mother again, confused. watching her grind the stuff with her teeth, filly does the same, marveling at the wonder of chewing. as she did, the bitterness of the leaves poured into her mouth and she makes a strange face, but swallows and goes for more. deciding that that was enough of that for the time, she swallows again and goes in search of the milk her mother had to offer. {
