A way to use AATools 5.0 unrestricted:

1). You will need AATools Version 5, Beta 2 (aatools_50_beta2.zip).

2). You will also need the "Temporary Unlock" File (tempunlock.zip).

3). Install both (I would suggest backdating your computer to 1/30/02 beforehand).

4). Once installed, simply backdate your computer to 1/30/02 whenever you wish to use the program (see suggestion re: DateChanger program below).

There is no difference between the final realese and beta 2.

You can find these files at:

www.alteredperception.org/ambrosia/v2/aatools5.htm

Other notes of (perhaps) importance:

a) Glocksoft (the programs manufacturer) is suggesting that you change the control string in the Proxy Analyzer "General" settings to "ENVIRONMENT" rather than the default "cgi". Accordingly, this is suppose to optimize the proxy testing.

b) I have personally noticed that of the two proxy script URL's provided with the program, one seems to produce tons of "string not found" results.

That one is: http://www.glocksoft.net/cgi-bin/jenv.cgi.

c). Therefore, I would suggest using: http://aatools.virtualave.net/cgi-bin/jenv.cgi

Here's a tip that was posted a few days ago at BZ by "Stoney". I repeat it here 'cuz maybe it will reduce the "pain in the ass" of having to manually backdate your computer.

Download a program called "DateChanger". You can read all about it & download it at:

http://www.datechanger.com/

Once programmed it will automatically change your system date to whatever you specify, and then change it back when you close the program.

This appears to be a great little tool for perhaps all timed trialware!

One tip ... after you put in the month, day & year, make sure each of those fields are highlighted before you create the launch icon or you'll get an error message. You must manually select each date field.

You can, of course, also change the desktop icon to one of your choice ... including the one normally associated with the program in question.
