Got there a week early. Had 14 friends meet at the Glen, sharing a school bus on the hill, behind some trees. 10 minute walk to our pup tents 50 yds from left-center stage.

4 of us left Hartford, CT in one VW Bug; it broke down just outside the city (too much weight and blew the engine). We split up. I hitched a ride from a trailer truck driver; next was a wealthy 40-something woman in a Buick Electra to the NY State Line. Met my original riding buddies about 10pm at the very same underpass where I had already laid out my sleeping bag, we spent the night there. How the hell we ended up at that spot together is a Karmystery. Split up again in the morning, hitched the rest of the way in a pickup with a homemade "cabin" on it and 2 young things in the back with me. Found our 'camp' and had an awesome 11 days. One of our young ladies at the bus had a miscarriage and nearly died on the way to the hospital in the chopper. Lots of overdosing - that chopper was busy all weekend of the music. A few deaths (OD's) but no violence we knew of. Stayed at the stage from beginning to end, starting with the marathon soundchecks. My festival experience (now age 60) gives me an idea there were approximately 450k to 500k covering all the hills and dales. Saw a skydiver burn in the distance. We knew something was wrong when he (or his equipment?) got hung up in the high tension wires. Found a friend from my town on the way out. Rode back with him and his girlfriend..laid down in the back and didn't wake up until 18 hours later!

I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
