Subject: [.a moment.]

She would rather remain to herself; no proper behavior for someone of a Weyr, so it is a brand to her outsider creed. She was much more at home on the back of a runner, than in any sort of social situation. And she hadn't been found of Search, like these youth's. Nor was she the daughter of a Lord Holder. She was merely the daughter of her father, a simple man who raised his runners and desired naught else. He had once said, patting her on the head in her earliest memories, that she had the dragon-sickness. Her first glimpse of the awesome beasts had sealed her fate. He then told her about her mother's lineage, which might have been traced to the old Holds and Weyrs. But since history had crumbled, the hides that gave the family trees had rotted, no one knew.
Shaking her head, sending mahogany tresses flying, she adopts a position of lassitude on the wall, deciding what to do. Her full lips pressed together in a thoughtful frown, she started walking again. Until she could fully decide her purpose, she didn't feel comfortable in the Weyrling Barracks. She wasn't a Weyrling, after all. At least not yet. But by the Egg, maybe she would feel at home here someday.
