Meaven sighed with boredom. The clothes were folded. What was she to do now? She had no flit to oil or feed, not that she wanted to! Sighing again, Meaven walked over to the window and leaned out. A small brown flit, most likely wild, was battling a small wind. Meaven suppressed a small shudder. Luckily for her, there weren't many flits here- yet. Meaven tried to roll her shoulder, to relax her muscles, but only succeeded in banging them against the window. "Ouch!" she hissed. As the brown drew closer, Meaven jumped back from the window, knocking her head slightly on the top of the window. "Ow!" she said again, glaring at the window. "What have I ever done to you?" Meaven told the window. With her eyes almost closed, the window looked like it was laughing at her, at the clumsiness she had just shown. "I'm glad that the Weyrwoman didn't see that." she grumbled.

The brown finally made it into the window of her room. Meaven held her breath, then approached it. She held her fear, her handicap, at bay, until she could stroke the brown lightly. The brown hummed with happiness, and shook a small, rolled up piece of paper onto her bed. His task done, the brown lifted up and between, an easier way to get home. Meaven curled up on her bed with the paper in hand. A letter from Jerry. A perfect way to ease her boredom.
