After my Dad's death I found his WWII diary and album. He served on the USS Philadelphia from 1943 to 1945.
I created a website in his memory and as a tribute to all who served and as therapy for myself. It contains photos, news articles and documents and I still have more to add.
www.brigs.us/Phila
One of the photos that I haven't scanned yet is of Company 519 - Sept. 13, 1943
U. S Naval Training Station
Sampson, N.Y.
The back of the photo has the signatures of all the men and their hometowns.
If you like, I will send you the file of both sides as soon as I return home and have access to my scanner. I see that you have a "Company" page of photos.
It's sad to be doing this project alone. However, when I discovered your website, I see that I'm not alone. There are many children and grandchildren seeking information about their sailors.
Sincerely,
Eileen Paukstis Backofen
