Subject: Navy jacket?

 I am currently the director of Lightner Library at Keuka College. Several years ago one of the staff gave the former director a well-worn blue jean jacket that belonged to his wife's father, whom we were told was in the Navy in WWII. There is no name on the jacket but the buttons say navy and have an anchor on them.

There is no Keuka connection here, but I would like to, at least attempt, to place this jacket, if it is genuine, somewhere it might be appreciated.

Can someone help me? Thank you.
