My grandfather--who died in 1960--was a doctor on the USS Montauk, LSV-6. He was actually a surgeon--Charles E. Price. (I don't know if they'd have had more than one doctor on this vessel?) Anyway, I also have a small journal/diary of their travels. A few of the entries are interesting. However, it is difficult to read, as he had "doctor writing." I don't believe there is any reference to your father, but you may still find it interesting (including a letter that alludes to one of the other officers being an idiot). I, too, would be interested in any material about this vessel, and its travels. Let me know.
