You can send in an SF180 Record Request Form to the government and they will send you copies of your Father's military records. It takes several months, but it's worth it.

Check this link to get an idea of what information is available, though it will be in cryptic - military speak...

This will give you more information about where he was and that will help you find out which directions you can go in to find more information.

Good luck with your search. I started mine 7 years ago with NavSource and an SF180 request.
