I think Esherick has too much class to take the loyola job, although if he was willing to come in a package deal with the lax coach and football stadium, I would be all for it. :)

I don't even think hiring Matt D. is that crazy. He is a good coach who was fired for not changing enough player diapers and failing to coddle to Dean. Well any player we get at Loyola either is not a threat to go pro early, so that is not as big of a concern. And what is so wrong about being a disciplinarian? Besides, if he wants a big-time job again, and I am sure he does, he is going to have to play it straight.

And I don't think Dean Smith has the ear of Joe Boylan, so failing to worship at the Dean Shrine once a week will not hurt him. Heck, I even won't be mad if he refuses to hire Phil Ford!

The bottom line is that Matt needs to start over and Loyola needs a slap in the face and some reason for hope. A marriage made in heaven.

By the way, Matt. I lost your email address. Drop me a line at some point so I can get it again. I had to give a speech in Reston, Va., last month and was going to see what you were up to but couldn't remember how to get in touch with you.
