"Hi, Balivadi." His dark eyes fill with tears as he nuzzles his son. The thorns braided into his tail---the mark of a great warrior---brush idly against his hocks. "I see you have the pendant."
He shifts slightly. "I can't stay for long, but I will tell you what that thing can do. You can become any animal you want when you wear it...think of your mother and I when you decide to change shape."
His voice becomes and echo as he fades away slowly. "I love you, Balivadi...my son..."
