I have been diagnosed with DID for over 10 years now and have worked very hard to get well. My world came crumbling down when I was diagnosed and I ran from specialist to specialist to find someone who would tell me something differently...they only confirmed it. I went through denial the first couple years of treatment, but then became a specialist in talking with other DIDs, research, asking the top names....disgusted with the portrayal by the media of psychotic DIDs who were really just heroes and brilliant in their own rights.

Yes, I have had abilities that I did not understand..in fact, scaredme because the dreams that I would have that later became 100% real were not very good and so every dream that I had made me wonder if it was a foresight or just bad dream. I can also "read" people's emotions to the point that theirs and mine get tangled, know things about some people at a glance or touch and am always validated by asking. I have learned as part of my studies that these abilities are probably inherent in everyone, but because of the survival of DIDs these abilities surface as an evolutionary role in survival. They don't seem to happen as much since I have been ill, but I know that is just part of me being sick for so many years ( not talking DID, medical stuff that is improving).
My daughter also exhibited these things at young age and the ladies of our church would ask me if I knew that she could do the things that she could...I was polite and just told them that she was very special. She was never abused, though....and a very wise older lady told me that this type of thing ran on my mother's side of the family. My daughter would crack up when I was mad cause the alarms and stuff would go off ( now I know, it's just the way I produce energy) and kid people "better not make my mom mad"

I have worked really hard and am getting psych degree cause through this I have realized how many DIDs go without trt. due to lack of knowledge or specialists....a lot die when they don't have to.
My docs say that I have SRA background, too..cause there is absolutely no way that I could know the letters that I do, other things....I am very proud and interested in your work and would love to stay involved someway. I know lots of people have trouble with this "woo-woo" stuff, but it isn't really that woo-woo to me...and I know that they have to keep their safety boundaries in tact. Also, being DID..not too much surprises you 100%........

Blessings, Lisa
