Hello all. I am new to this, so please bear with me.

I have a known donor who is actually a friend that lives on the other side of the country (in the US) and we are going to start trying to conceive soon. He is on the west coast and I am in the southeast... We do have plans for him to travel here in a few months and at that time we will use fresh sperm, but I am doubting we will conceive on the first attempt. I have been researching our other options online, with not too much luck. I see that we have the option of storing his sperm at sperm bank, but they seem to require a lot of testing, and quarantine for six months...one place even requires that we meet with a counselor, because he is a known donor. And it looks quite expensive. I've also found some methods of shipping, including the Bio-tranz kit and the Bio-Flite (which is actually intended for veterinary use, but it seems some people have had success with it). It just is not practical for him to travel to me every month, unfortunately. Have any of you personally used either of these kits, or know someone who has? Or even used a sperm bank? Or are there any other options? Does the semen absolutely have to be shipped in one of these kits? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
