You need a rather long syringe or a turkey baster, and a capped plastic container for urine analysis.
With a long syringe (no needles!!!, 10-20 ml) you can do it yourself. Just suck up the fresh ejaculate donated into a capped plastic cup into the syringe (avoid airbubles), assume a lying position on the back, with the bottom elevated (couple of pillows). Insert the syringe into the vagina, as far as it goes until it touches cervix or fornix, and slowly evacuate the content, until it is all deposited. Keep the position for 30-60 min after the AI. Done! No problem if you fall asleep.
Turkey baster or smaller syringe require the assistance of a partner. With turkey baster, your partner (or donor) inserts the open tube, again as far as it goes, then empties the semen into the tube, caps the tube with the ball, and gently squeezes the ball, until the contents are deposited. Be careful not to press out too much air, since this could displace seminal fluid out of the vagina.
Small syringe (no needles, of course!!, 5ml). Insert the whole syringe, not just the thick part into the vagina - there is enough room for the syringe and 2-3 fingers, so don't worry about sufficient space. When the tip of the syringe touches cervix or fornix, gently evacuate the content. If it is done by the donor, the donor should wear surgical gloves.
