Persona Description
Khalidah is built to last, and has to be, from hours of heavy labor. She is tall and lean, and shows no muscle, and has to work extra hard to last as long as the boys. She has long legs that help her to move quickly around the ship, and a grip that can break wrists. She keeps her hair about shoulder length, tied back in many braids so no hair will get in her face. Her hair is a rich klah in color, with highlights of sun bleached blonde. Her eyes are a deep, sun colored gold with hints of brown. They are quite large and dominate her face. From turns in the fierce southern sun, her face had become ruddy and tanned, with dark rosy cheeks. Her skin is a bit rough, but creams from the healers have helped it from becoming too chapped. Khalidah's nose is a bit off center, from a fall when trying to set sails. Her cheekbones ride high on her face, and her chin is a bit sharp for her oval face. Her eyes are what most people notice first, and they lay under very thin and uneven eyebrows. Her teeth are very white beneath her dark skin. Khalidah wears little jewelry, for it might get caught in the riggings. She has her belt-knife at her side at all times, carefully honed, just in case her foot gets caught in the ropes once again. Practical, Khalidah rarely wears a dress. Trousers and a sleeveless tunic, plus sturdy boots and a wherhide jacket are her garments of choice. She wears a bandana to keep her hair off her sweaty face. Occasionally, off the ship, she will slip into softer garments of short pants and sandals.

Persona Personality
Khalidah is the definition of happy-go-lucky. She learned, turns ago, that brooding over problems gets a person no where. She has learned to take her knocks and shake them off. She is also pretty tough when it comes to her attitude. Try and badmouth her and you will be sucking sand. She is not a bully, but tries her hardest to stop others from becoming one. Her 'posse' of childhood friends were sort of like Robin Hood - beat up the bullies to protect the weak. She is terrible in the child-raising department, after her few failed attempts at baby-sitting, Khalidah knows her future children will be put in the hands of a foster mother. Khalidah is not a morning person, and the few who have tried to awaken her have been met with words that make the hardiest sailors cry. Of course, being a sailor means early mornings, so Khalidah has spent her whole life attempting to overcome this habit. Now as Weyrwoman, Khalidah makes sure she is ever vigilant.

Persona History
Khalidah is the youngest child of four, born in the heat of Ista. She grew up loving the ocean, which was only natural. Her oldest brother would walk with her to the sea to watch their father on his ship, the 'Shipfish.' Occasionally, Khalidah was allowed to go with her father on his voyages. At the age of twelve, she apprenticed under the resident Master at Ista, determined to be as good as a boy. She was already very tall for her age, and turns of playing in the ocean had made her strong, and able to hold her breath for long periods of time. She met much resistance from the boys who were not from Ista originally, but a few good scuffles after class put the boys in their place.

In a year, everyone knew who ruled the roost. At fourteen, a firelizard clutch was discovered by one of the dockmasters. Khalidah was lucky enough to receive one, a little brown devil she named Darkness. Khalidah worked hard at her studies, laid up once from a broken leg and twice due to firehead. Her over-exuberance worried her parents, who wanted to help their youngest fulfill her dreams, but live long enough to see them happen. Khalidah liked to live life to the fullest, and was one to ignore her own mortal limitations.

After her second bout of firehead that left her out of commission for months, Khalidah began to cool off. She saw her oldest sister sent to Keroon, and her second brother go off to Fort to study with the MasterHealer and Impressing bronze. At seventeen she walked the tables and became a journeywoman. Her older siblings had all moved on to bigger and better things, and so was she. Khalidah continued to study her craft and became very intrigued with ship repair and building. Soon after Khalidah was Searched and sent to Fort Weyr.

Pet Description/Personality
Darkness is a deep, antique brown that shimmers in the light. He is very large and loves to show off his wingspan. A pale copper dappling ripples over his shoulders and haunches, which make him appear to be bronze under pale light. His wings are a fiery color, mixed with gold and copper. A touch of gold mixes with his deep-antiqued hide. He is very large, as large as some of the smaller bronzes. His wingspan is a bit longer than normal, which does cut down bit on his maneuverability but has a smaller than normal tail. Darkness is a horrid flirt. He is one to try to impress the golds and greens. He is overly manly sometimes. He is a worthless messenger but he tries hard to please Khalidah by bringing her fish he has hunted. He loves to swim or be with his fellow firelizards. He is a food hog and will attempt to steal meat as it is cooked, which have lead to many swatting battles. He is the weyr's biggest troublemaker, constantly causing trouble with the caverns women.
