Subject: Thoughts after watching Sleuthing With The Enemy

After watching this episode, I can't help but notice how certain scenes in that episode, especially towards the end, reminded me so much of early BtVS. When Pheebs carries Cole into the mauseleum, I can't help but wonder whether Spike may be hiding there or not. Then, when Pheebs starts to fight Krell, I can't help but compare that to when Buffy was fighting Angelus in the climax of Becoming, Part II. After that, Cole is told to hide away and fake his death, which reminds me of Buffy attempting to hide Angel after he mysteriously came back from Hell by the Claddaugh ring. Oh yeah, Pheebs now has Belthazor's knife, a shout-out to the Claddaugh ring. Gee, if you didn't look carefully, you may have mistaken Sleuthing With The Enemy with Revelations or Graduation Day, Part I. Guess what? I'm not the only one who has noticed this. The newsgroups, both BtVS and Charmed, have had heated discussions on this. Of course, the Buffites have much more negative things to say about it than the Charmers. Then again, what do they know? BtVS has borrowed from previous sci-fi, fantasy, whatever such as Bram Stoker's Dracula, Andromeda and Star Trek. So they're not "saints" on this, either. Still, you have to wonder how far can they really take this. So far in season 3, you have(or will see) references to "Ladyhawk", "The Matrix", "BtVS", "Coyote Ugly" and even "Star Wars"(season 1). Can they maintain the campy fun while going in this new direction? We'll have to see.

Phoebe hiding this Cole individual will truly test the resolve of the Power of Three in the coming episodes. How might they happen? One way could be that whenever the other two sisters encounter something that has the scent of a Cole-like dilemma, Phoebe would just hold back and not be in a fighting mood, causing her sisters to wonder what's holding Pheebs back. The thing that really gets crazy is when Cole does some surprise reappearances. How would Phoebe react to these events? Will he be humanized or more evil? You could see by the way Phoebe reacted when she first saw Krell how she might end up when the stress starts to eat her away. She could start acting very violently if Prue starts probing even deeper into this.

There's also something to be said about Krell's entry into the whole story. That the Source would send this bounty-hunter to hunt Cole down, knowing that the Charmed Ones stand in their way, is very curious to me. Does the Source think in the back of their minds that the Charmed Ones could be made dark and not just Pheebs? I like how Krell and Prue were going back and forth arguing about how to best proceed to catch Belthazor. The reason is that Prue needs a good match in order to get her brain working. Without a challenge, Prue starts to go various places, getting suspicious and antsy. Some ppl hated it but it makes a lot of sense to me.

Other thoughts:
- Loved that line about Leo "Sleeping on the Job". Do you get the hidden message behind that? :)
- Where's Darryl?
- I have to admit that, while reading the newsgroups, I loved a line someone said about watching Phoebe fight Krell with 6" heels. Hehehe :)
- Pigs feet. Yummy!!! J/K LOLOL

Best lines:

Krell: The name's Krell and I'm a Traska(sp?)
Prue: My name's Prue and I'm a Scorpio
