Subject: Thoughts after watching Blinded By The Whitelighter

This episode was better than I expected. There were moments where there were some weaknesses. One of them is the increased reliance on scrying to find witches. Since they have powers, wouldn't one of them come up with an idea on how to find a fellow witch without using one thing too much? I don't think it's that complicated to figure out.

We also got to learn a bit more about Whitelighter culture. One question that has come to my mind when watching Natalie "dictate" to the witches is: Aren't real-life witches supposed to be considered very-independent and self-conscious? Maybe that's a reason to explain the Charmed Ones' rebellion against her. She(Natalie) wanted so much for the Charmed Ones to go that extra mile to defeat demons and warlocks. Unfortunately, the writers have decided that they're going to portray the Charmed Ones as having the right instinct to go about things and not be "bogged down by rules." Whatever. It would have been an interesting change in direction if they decided to make it so. But since the show has been increasing in popularity, I guess I can't affect things too much.

Another thing that is getting me right now is how Leo interepreted the rules. When Natalie was arguing with him about how the Charmed Ones were getting too sloppy, Leo responded by saying that they work best when they're not "doing things by rote." Yet, he hasn't questioned the rule about going to where a charge was calling him, unless he was with another charge at the time. He has been bending over backwards for the Charmed Ones ever since he got involved with Piper, even wearing casual clothes when up in the heavens.

I really thought the writers made a good plan to write out the plot by the warlock to get to "WhiteLighterLand" by having him carefully stalk witches he needs to get the necessary powers in order to threaten witches all over the world. The criticisms by some who have commented on it are, IMO, a bit harsh. The plot was thought out well.

Other thoughts:

- I was curious about the way Reese pronounced "occult paraphernalia." That "ghetto speak" is always interesting, no matter the situation. LOL :-)

- About the point of Leo not feeling for Natalie after she died...I think that since they've already died before becoming Whitelighters that it's not supposed to be such a big deal the second time. In the real world, you only die one time and that's it. In the Whitelighter World, you are given the responsibility of protecting a charge. IMHO, Leo must have thought that Natalie dying again was a sign of her failing to do her duty, not someone else killing her. I know it's a bit of a stretch but it's still a good argument.

- So the Elders drop probation for Leo/Piper. Gee, I wonder when they're going to sanction a Phoebe/Cole union as well. Then again, a lot of Charmed fans wouldn't mind that as well. LOL

Best Lines:

Piper: You know...this all-good-for-the-mankind stuff...I have no other choice but to be...understanding.

Leo: You just got to accept that you're engaged to someone who's working for the CIA.

Piper: Oh...

Phoebe(walking in): You mean you work for the CIA?

Prue(tongue-in-cheek): You know, Pheebs...ever since you became a blond...
