Instead of using the ' things at all, why not try new vocabulary? Like instead of saying:

"'he pads 'round happy to b' here inyet sd for 'he knew no one other than the head mascu and deaths kiss... 'he lays down and places 'er dial on 'er pillars.. closes 'er eyes and falls asleep"

say:

"Wench 'o (whatever color you are) lets quadruple columns carry her forth, ooids surveying lands. Sad was she yet for all her happiness for acknowledgement of none had been made. All her knowledge of others within acreage lay to thee brute Obsidian and thee cur Death's Kiss. Bodice is lowered to scarred loam as crania rests atop fores. Ooids are covered as fatale rests."

Something like that. There are no ' things in that because I don't need them and it takes away from the words :-)
