When a man in his 80s with too many other issues to help himself lands in the wrong ward, he could be in a world of hurt. FIL hasn't been right, physically, since his bypass. He has had several adventures with clogged catheters and mismanaged hydration, while supposedly being watched-over--by people who don't see that as a problem. With all the usual inhibitions of his generation, it's rough enough for him just needing help with that stuff. Docs tell us he's on a tightrope between congestive heart-failure & kidney failure. But he's figured out if taking a leak has become such a source of grief--he can just quit taking fluids voluntarily. The night-shift (at least the children) apparently don't see that as a problem, either.

If TPTB keep training these people the same old way, folks who need them will keep getting the same level of care. Somebody needs to try something different. RKBA! Best regards.
