Subject: March Set for Contests / Practice

Hello everyone....

Sorry I couldn't make practice last night. I got held up at work, and wouldn't have made it down there until well after 9. I'll try to get down next week, but I have to see about shuffling some things.

I spoke with Marty this week, and it looks like most of the contests we are preparing to do will require us to play the MARCH set. After discussing our options, we're strongly considering the following set:

Jack's Welcome Home
Caber Feidh
Lochanside
Brau Donal

Jack's Welcome Home (4/4) and Lochanside (3/4) are all but assured of being part of the set, and Caber Feidh (4/4) look like it might be a lock, too. Brau Donal is a 3/4 March written by the PM of Mesa Caledonia - if you were able to get a copy of Snoop's CD, it's on there. Jim is sending me the music, with a setting for the harmonies that he wrote, as well. It will be important for all of the drummers (snare, tenor and bass) to get a look at these settings early, as they are all new tunes to the group.

If you want to get a jump on things, you can start working on Lochanside - most of you should have a copy from the Tartan Day settings we received last year. Caber Feidh is (I believe) in the Scots Gaurd - Marty has a copy of that, and I have a copy of Jack's Welcome Home, which will be ready next Wednesday. I'll probably mail that copy to Marty if I know I won't make it down there this week. Marty also has an updated schedule of practices I am planning on attending, which I'm sure he'll share with you if you ask him nicely...

I really wish I could have made practice last night. Unfortunately, no matter what schedule I put together, other circumstances might keep me from being there. When that happens, though, I will try to make up any missed practice the following week.

Hope all's well out on Long Island --- I kind of miss being 10 minutes away. See you all soon.
