Subject: Yet another slow start !

I've now lost count of the number of games where we have conceeded a significant number of points within the first twenty mins !!
Ian smith has acknowledged it as a problem ...
So we all agree on that point !
My belief is there must be a number of elements fundamentally wrong with the pre game build up warm up and preperation on game day . Again smith has highlighted poor preperation prior to arrival by some unamed players ..... BUT I do believe that firstly if that is the case he must enforce discapline secondly they must adjust the pre game warm up in terms of it's content and timings and / or time spent because it is clearly not working for this Moseley squad . It seems to me that they are brought to a certain level of playing arousal during the warm up then they leave the pitch for final words and preperation by which time there levels have fallen again just as we kick off . It then takes 15 to 20 mins to get them back to their playing mindset by which time we've conceeded points .
The prepration pre game is clearly not right and should be adjusted to produce a consistently switched on performance from
the start .
We have a good squad and good set of players so let's get the mindset right from the 1st min and that's down to preperation from players and coaches all .

Yet another shocking display from mose today, yet again lacking passion and desire. We did have some good defensive spells during the game but we ended up defending after giving the ball away cheaply, so if we could play properly we wouldnt have had to defend.
Yet again another match where every point comes from Tristans boot - who keeps telling him to go for goal instead of kicking for the corner and going for the try, whoever it is is costing us games.
Does anyone who was there today know who the idiot was who knocked on when he should have scored what would have been our only try of the game??
To finish on a positive though it looks like JMC has finaly learnt how to catch a rugby ball, something the team need to improve on.

"Plate Final – England v South Africa

Frenetic start as both as Wade (Eng) and Afrika (SA) look dangerous. Superb work from Gollings, making a mini break, then finding Norton steaming through in midfield to go under the sticks. 7-0 to Eng. All England so far, as they persist with going central in their attacks trying to puncture SA holes. SA just lack the wheels on the outside today and they get shown up in a big way as Wade explodes round Helberg. 14-0 to England. Take a breather.

South Africa come out hungry they need points, but a big tackle form England cause a spill to Wade who pins his ears back before hitting Damu who gallops over to make it 21-0. England relishing this as Rodwell joins the part with a massive hit. Boks try and be to intricate yet again and it’s another error from them. Finally the hosts string some decent phases together and Venter goes in but it’s not going to change anything. England take the Plate."

Result: England 21 South Africa 7

Date Posted: "Thu, Dec 03 2009, 12:03:22 GMT"

Hello to you all.

Apologies for the short notice given, but we’re planning to run coaches to the matches at Nottingham on Sunday 13th December (kick off 3:00pm) and Doncaster on Saturday 19th December (kick off 2:00pm).

The cost of travelling on a coach is £15.00 per person, and the provisional timings for the running of the coaches is as follows:

Sunday 13th December
  • Depart Billesley 12:00pm

  • Depart Meadow Lane 5:30pm (subject to agreement of those travelling)

Saturday 19th December
  • Depart Billesley 10:30am

  • Depart Castle Park between 4:30pm – 5:00pm

If you wish to travel on the Nottingham coach you must make payment in full by this weekend at our match against Cornish Pirates. Payments for the Doncaster coach can also be made this weekend, but please specify exactly which coach you are making your payment towards. Payments can be made either in cash or by cheque made payable to Moseley RFC.

Unfortunately I am unable to attend our match against the Pirates, but Neil Marklew has very kindly agreed to step-in and handle coach bookings this weekend. Many thanks to Neil, the Bailey Family and the Car Parking Crew for all their encouragement and assistance during the last few months.

Best wishes to all.

Can't agree with the coaches reasoning for our loss ( moseley matters). Why did he not replace Niel earlier. He was limping badly at the end of the first half and notwithstanding his great leadership by example we could not expect to be able to forfiet any forward power in the second half. Further, to expect replacements who warmed up over an hour before to come on only a few minutes before the end to face a rampant pack was unreasonable. Pirates had increased their power 10 minutes earlier!!

Didn't think 19 points was going to be enough for the second half but we can take some positives from the game. Scrummaging was excellent and our line out secure. Their counter rucking was better than ours and we also took a few wrong options with our kicking game. Shame at the end that Gareth (?) tried to break when our forwards were controlling the ball and then gave it away for them to score their winning try. All we had to do was keep it tight with no mistakes and the game was ours.

On another topic. Can we do something about the colours at future matches? Below the waist both teams and the ref wore almost the same shorts and socks and above from a distance with the mud it was very difficult to tell who's who. Why can't one of the teams play in their white strip which they've both got and the other a dark strip with the ref in say yellow or orange? Then I would only have the result to whinge about! With the bonus point we should still be in 7th place though.

She means the sort of calender that would involve the players in the buff with only strategically, placed Rugby balls to protect their modesty and the Mary Whithouse brigade.

Suggested posses/ places.

Pulling pints
in the shower
rodders leaning against the posts
front row about to engage in the scrum
lifting for the line out...

recon they would fly off the shelf for a tenner........

England Sevens - Emirates Airlines Dubai Sevens:
England will play Argentina in the cup quarter final at 11.32am, local time (GMT+4) today (Saturday) – so about 7.30 am if anyone is up!
Saturday – Sky Sports Xtra 6.30am to 10.30

Sounds like Rodders played in the first game against USA, and looks like former Mose winger Dan Norton is scoring at will! Jake Abbot also had game time and scored – so a good Mose influence in Dubai!

England 40-12 USA
Scorers: Tries: Norton (3), Barrett, Gollings, Turner; Cons: Gollings (5).

England 28-0 Russia
Couldn’t find scorers etc

England 27-10 Kenya
Scorers: Tries: Royle (2), Gollings, Abbott, Turner; Cons: Gollings

From RFU website:
A third win wraps up a solid performance from England on day one of the Dubai Sevens
Coach Ben Ryan says England are hungry for victory ahead of a quarter final clash with Argentina on Saturday

Victory over Kenya means England Sevens finish day one of the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens unbeaten.

Two first half tries from Flyde's Nick Royle got England off to a flying start with Ben Gollings (Gold Coast), Mat Turner (Bristol Rugby) and Worcester's Jake Abbott adding to the tally………………….. Bristol’s Dan Norton intercepted a Kenyan pass he fed Abbott who touched down

England Sevens coach Ben Ryan said, "I'm really pleased with the guys today they've done really well, but it's a two day tournament and all that hard work could be undone tomorrow if we don't turn up in the quarter finals.

"I think they are all desperate to achieve and do well we have a hungry group of guys, I don't think they will be resting tomorrow because the real work starts then.

"We will meet the top sides tomorrow. It's going to be a difficult day in the office but potentially a really rewarding one."

Date Posted: "Thu, Dec 03 2009, 13:46:55 GMT"

Okay, let’s move forwards now shall we. We’ve all had a good old whinge about the tackling, the crowd numbers, the club’s finances, the league structure, the PA system and the lights etc etc. We’ve mourned the demise and resurrection of Bees and probably Coventry, and we’ve been dismayed by the team' first half performances.
So this weekend’s game against Pirates is the time for us all to pull together, committee, fans, supporters, backroom staff, volunteers, coaches and players, EVERYONE, to show the rest of the league what we are, and that is a rugby CLUB.
That’s an association of people united by a common interest or goal.
Whilst I agree that we need the infrastructure of a sound business to continue and grow, we must not lose sight of the ethos of a club and all it stands for.

Oh yes, just in case there is any doubt I’m the man in Yellow at the entrance.

Bearing in mind the current economic climate, the fact tat our gates are very obviously down on last year and the much publicised financial troubles of Bees, Coventry and, apparently, London Welsh again, could someone from the club give us an idea of where we are financially at this stage in the season?

Anybody interested in a 3 course christmas dinner and disco at the clubhouse???

We're looking at soup as starter, roast turkey and all the trimmings for mains and then a traditional christmas pud for dessert.

Then we'll have a dj, so make sure you've got your dancing shoes on.

This is all being planned for Saturday 19th December at 7.30pm (food served 8.30) and would be £18 per head. So bring friends and family and enjoy christmas down the clubhouse.

This is dependent on numbers so if your interested or would like more info, then please leave comments
