Subject: reality and truth

Well, there is objective reality and subjective reality. Objective reality is that which "is," independent of perception or conception. As far as the mechanics of this objective reality, science is constantly peeling away layers, revealing more and more of it. However, the metaphysical aspects of this objective reality cannot be addressed empirically and, since we have no other faculty for discerning knowledge, it remains obscured. In fact, we have no basis for the assumption that such aspects of existence exist. Perhaps there is no essence or "thing in itself." Perhaps every body is merely a construct of other bodies, each being constructs in their own right. If we were ever able to discern an actual singularity, it would bring us no closer to the answer to any metaphysical questions. It would, rather, bring about the end of all such speculation and this discovery would simply be the latest in the long line of informative, but, ultimately, insignificant and mechanical explanations of the physical world. The essence of anything would be reduced to a physical characteristic, indistinguishable from the essence of anything else. This is not metaphysics.
