it's a very sad situation indeed innit? but if people like Kylie records or whatever - people are gonna buy em ain't they? it's still good when good bands get high in the charts but do they really matter? if there's good music out there you're gonna find it entcha?
If a band goes overground then the more people are gonna hear em, which is good (if it's a good band) but that leaves them open to the industry getting hold of it and selling it back to the kids (IT SELLS REBELLION AGAINST ITSELF TO THE PRE-TEENS (they're too young to know better) - CLEVER EH?) and thus you have nu-metal and whatever - to me the songs are bland boring shite (esp. slipknot - how fucking dull and predictable can ya get?!)
Check Oasis in town - coupla years ago when I first started going in there it were great and catered for ALL underground trends (that includes mods) and had a lot of variety, now..?!!! fucking five year olds and there mams going 'd'you want the one that says jesus is a cunt or people=shit?' all traces of anything underground has vanished cos let's face it skater/metal/rock music IS mainstream there's nothing alternative about it the clothes are (and always were really) hideously overpriced and so there's no way out really. Nowadays with Simon Cowell and all them wankers - overground=suicide which is a great shame but there y'go.
PS - If anyone tries telling me mod is trendy at the moment - they dunno what they're talking bout - I see a lot of hijacked targets in the high street stores (Lambretta do do very good clothes I freely admit tho) but I don't see to many trendies checking Otis Redding or hard be-bop or Sam Cooke or whatever...

This is probably all irrelevant but there y'are.
