If there'd never been a State, there'd never've been Iasonic. I first saw them live just before christmas 2001, and they just caught me in this mad bit of my life where'd i'd just come out of hospital and ruthlessly uncluttered my life on any unncecessary records or books til i was down to just the odd ones that mattered, I was listening to nothing but the Beatles, Simon Diamond by The Coral and nothing else. So I had this whole new mad feeling then State pointed me in the direction. I got dissatisfied with Haden became obsessed with arrangements and structures, got pushed before I could jump and the rest is unimportant.
Their lone album will hopefully be picked up by some mad re-issue label in a few years when Gen are huge in America and Ediz is some kinda lo-fi Coxon enigma and my orginal copy with so I'm told unique early mixes will be worth a fortune. And I can say I was there - at Scruffy's, Kings Heath, Medicine Bar, The Flapper (twice). Just pissed off I was too ill to get down to XL's that one time. Still, I have the memories and bootleg CD of the Duke St. demos. And I used to know Andy the first drummer.
GOD SAVE STATE OF THE NATION!
