Subject: eye irritation

yesterday I suffered severe eye irritation after having a shower, at first I thought it maybe shampoo related but it persisted for hours.
I had removed cactus late that afternoon, it was quite slender and reached a height of 3 metres could this have been the problem?
Would you know type of cactus?
I do not recall getting it on my person at the time of removal.
