Hi there!
I have had a few brushes with Opuntia glochids as well.
The first time, after trying to pick'em with tweezers to no avail... i got 'creative' and picked up a disposable plastic shaver..AND IT WORKED !!
The IRRITATION went away almost INSTANTLY !!
I am not sure whether shaving glochids off our skin also dislodges their barbed tips, but because the SHAVEN affected areas immediately became SMOOTH to the touch I soon 'forgot' they were there just a few minutes before and carried on gardening happily.
IT WORKS for me EVERYTIME.
Happy Opuntia growing :)
