Hi,
I know this old, but you never know. By "banned style", I am guessing you mean it looks like Opuntia ficus-indica, the Indian Fig Opuntia or Prickly Pear. There are many types of Opuntia, many of which are not banned. An Opuntia mycrodasys would fit your description for example, but it could be one of heaps more. Can you supply a photograph?
