Just re-pot into a larger container (hanging basket etc.) and twirl the chains around the soil surface inside the top of the pot. This will encourage more new chains to form. I myself wouldn’t trim back the old chains as I like to keep everything looking as natural as possible but others would trim back to look more aesthetically pleasing.
