It is probably not at all important. Common names are almost always totally confusing (even different cities using different names for the same plant)and unless a large international organization sets standards such as Birds Australia, common names will remain too confusing to be of any real value. Anyway Boab has been used so much in the past here in Oz it would be very hard to change its use.
