If you don't want to 'pussy foot' around, hit em' once with a systemic called Lebaycid, now sold under a new name called 'Yates Fruit Fly and Insect Killer', only available in a 225ml can. Use at a rate of 10mls to 10 litres. It's expensive (about $36 a can) but if you wants something that works then you have to pay for it.
Preferably dunk the plants in the solution in a bucket - otherwise spraying will do.
And forget the rest.
