I guess like many of us I too have experienced a few bad hail storms. There are no hard and fast rules. Some plants will die, others may need to be tidied up but will recuperate. There is a danger of rot or disease to any damaged plant. Fortunately our gardens do recover but never perfectly. I have columnar cacti that have resprouted from broken stems. They are attractive but will never again be perfect specimens.
Regards Didge.
