As the sun rose that morning, its milky golden rays spread like the waves lapping against the shore. In the midst of the sweet serenity there lay a silver mare, her body now laying restless on the shoreline. The ocean water crept up, just washing the dirt from her hooves that rested in the warm sands. Her shocking blue eyes were tightly shut, holding out all light. Her breathing was labored, and her sides trembled with every inhale. It was time.

The pale look that forms in every mare's pain filled eyes now glassed over the loving and caring gaze of the silver mare. Her body quaked and trembled, she shifted and rolled in the sands. Her grunts could be heard from quite a distance as it became harder and harder. At first she appeared to be getting nowhere, but soon enough the front feet appeared. The protective covering came to, and for ten minutes she labored until the body slid from her own. "From one plus one equals one."

She dropped her head onto the sand and stayed laying down for several minutes afterwards, glancing back to look at the foal. It was a colt, the softest and purest of creams blended with a white. It was a paint, not what had been expected, but even better. Exhausted the silver vix shifted herself to struggle to her feet. Her hooves pressed into the soft sands, he muzzle placed on the foal head. She began to clean the colt of his birth sac and looked around for any danger. Finally feeling relieved she lifted her neck and craned it to view the sun rising from the ocean's waves.
