....From what I read and seen...the 1.8T has more room for upgrades, but I own an older (97) Gti VR6.....love it, but a little nose heavy,,(go Figure), but the power is always there. no lag.......but if you plan to sink some money into it, and plan to build a curve cutting GTi? go for the 1.8T.... the VR6 has tons of potential power, but it also takes money to bring it to life..... and it likes to bow it's nose in turns....the engine and tranny in a VR6 weighs almost as much as a small block Chevy.....DON'T Get me wrong, I LOVE my GTi, but when I bought mine, the 1.8T wasn't out yet..... GOOD LUCK.....DRIVERS WANTED!!!!
