Subject: NO WAR ON IRAQ

On January 18, there will be a march in Washington DC protesting Bush's war. There will be joint action in San Francisco (I will be there, and I hope hundreds of thousands of others) as well as many cities around the country. There will be protests going on in over 30 countries (including Japan) - please get involved! If you care at all about the state of the world, if you would rather see $200 billion to $2 trillion go to jobs and schools instead of bombs and guns, PLEASE find the nearest protest and join! Even though the 200,000 that marched last time were marginalized, I'm hoping that there will be too many people to ignore this time! There were between 250,000 and 400,000 people in the streets of London! The mayor said it was the biggest protest in 30 years. No blood for oil!

info on int'l protests "In Japan, different coalitions will be holding regional demonstrations in the major cities on both Jan. 18 and Jan. 19. Some will also demand that U.S. bases leave Japan, especially Okinawa, where there is a strong popular movement against the U.S. occupation."

"Dear friends

We are the All-Japan federation of student council. People call us "ZENGAKUREN" in Japan. Our coalition is organized by Japanese students.

We thank you to publish our demonstration on 21 October on your sites.

We think we have to stop the war against Iraq driven by Bush administration.

We had rally on December. December 8, we had a congress at Tokyo with citizens and workers. About 2000 people gathered this congress. And we have a demonstration for appeal to stop the war.

Our coalition had demonstrations at Yokosuka, 12 and 15 December. More than 400 people joined. And Yokosuka people(about 500) joined, too. The demonstrations for stop SDF sending warships to Iraq. We must not to let Japan join in the war.

Then Japanese police disturbed our demonstration violently. And 5 students were arrested in our demonstrations. Including our chairperson Naoyuki Ohyama. They did nothing. They said just "No WAR". They have been in detention in police office for more than a week. This is unlawful. We can't admit Japansese police.

Many Yokosuka citizens angered and protested. And more 500 citizens joined in our demonstration. Many people appealed oppositting to war to Iraq, and protesting Self-Defence-Force with us. Our demonstration changed Yokosuka City to No war.

It is important for us to appeal "NO WAR!" all over the world. And we must let our own government stop the war, and not to join the war of our own government. We can't forgive killing Iraq people and children more. People of the world unite, and have actions for stopping the war.

We'll have a congress at Tokyo next January 18-19 in solidarity to your congress. And we'll have a large congress at Tokyo next February. We ask you to visit to Japan to join our congress. And have a speech please.

We'll send some students to your congress. 8 students will visit to Washington D.C. and N.Y. San Fransisco to join 18-19 congress in D.C. next January.

We'd like to talk how to stop the war with you. Please give me a reply.

In solidarity.

Zengakuren(All-Japan federation of student council)"

Fact Sheet - in case you need to get fired up!

They have said that the FBI will be there taking pictures! Well, I don't mind going to jail for this, I feel that strongly about it! I'm going to a costume store and getting a GWBush mask, and I'm going to be disfiguring it creatively, I suggest others do the same.
