Subject: Why was the map of the Ponderosa Ranch burning at the beginning of the program?

Why did the Bonanza program show the map burning? Was it to signify the horrible fire that occurred in Virginia City in 1875?

I just think they wanted an exciting, unique opening to catch the attention of the viewer. Then, it's up to the show to maintain it.
